Tip 7 A powerful way to wake up inspired, have more energy and depend on less sleep.
Do you sometimes wake up uninspired, and ticked that your sleep was interrupted by your alarm clock? Do you sometimes come home after work or class and feel drained?
I was speaking at a seminar to high school students. I started my speech with this; ‘Are you counting the days before your school year is over.” The audience responded with an enthusiastic yes! Then I asked how many of you will wake up inspired over the remaining thirty days. Although it was an audience of nearly one hundred and only one person raised a hand. It was a teacher, who clearly loves his work.
But how many people love their job? So that is how many people are waking up inspired about their work day. How many people love their life and leap out of bed enthusiastic?
Now it doesn’t matter if you are a stay at home mom, a busy business executive or a student, you no longer have to wake up uninspired ever again.
I noticed a pattern with many of my patients and with myself.
Most people don’t schedule what is most inspiring to them first thing in the morning. No hold on a second before you get upset with the perky morning person, which I can assure you I was not for most my life. Let me explain.
Do you remember when you were a child and you could barely sleep the night before an exciting trip or an exciting day?
Did you notice that even though you had less hours of sleep you had more energy? And recall days when you were uninspired, even a 10 to 12 hour night sleep is not enough to energize you.
So what is the secret? Simple.
Instead of staying stuck in the ordinary pattern of hearing the alarm clock, waking up sluggishly to get ready for the day, and maybe looking forward to something much later on in the day. Schedule something extraordinary something you look forward to, something inspiring to you first thing in the morning.
This is not only gaurenteed to get you up earlier, get you up enthusiastic but if it is what you really love you will have enough energy and vitality for the entire day.
I tested this for a year and 9 months at my busiest period as a doctor when I was working on average 9 hours a day. I scheduled business meetings, running, swimming, reading and overseas skype calls, one on one coaching sessions with patients and clients first thing in the morning.
I know it sounds counter productive and maybe a little insane. After all when your busy why would you want to pack more into your schedule. Well the key word is more. But not more work, more fun, more inspiration more of what I love to do. When it comes to doing what you love to do, you can’t get enough because it energizes you!
When you do this long enough you will naturally get to a point where you wonder why can’t this be my life, why can’t I wake up and spend the entire day doing what I love most?
I have a predictable question for you, why not? Why can’t this be you? Why not start tomorrow morning?
I heard it put once from Craig Valentine. He said if you want a dream life plan your dream day. And if I may add, start with waking up to what is inspiring most.
This way even though you get less sleep, you get more energy, more vitality, and more living.
A powerful way to wake up inspired, and have more energy with less sleep is to wake up not to an alarm clock but to wake up to the pursuit of your most inspired results.
